Annual Report

ANNUAL REPORT

2011

In 2011 the United Methodist Foundation of Santa Rosa has issued over $9,800 in grants supporting children’s and youth ministries, providing educational scholarships, and enhancing outreach and mission ministries  These grants are outside of the church’s operating budget.  The best news is these kinds of grants will continue year after year without any impact on the finances of the church.

The work of the Foundation is possible because people before us with vision had a passion for seeing that their generosity is protected and used as they have specified, and will grow and provide benefit to others, FOREVER!!  We all can be thankful to those visionaries.  In fact, you can be one of them.  As those in the past have left opportunity for us and our children, so can you elect to include the Foundation in your long term financial planning and provide opportunity for future generations.

This past year has been very active for the Board of the Foundation.  It adopted an “Awareness Plan” which included ten initiatives intended to increase the visibility of the work of the Foundation.  It included publicity, seminars, recognition events, and discussion groups to encourage use of the Foundation.  The Board executed on each of the initiatives and will carry some tasks into 2012 and add several new initiatives, all focused on improving communication with donors and grant recipients.  You are welcome to contact any board member to seek more information.

The Foundation manages $830,051 funds as of October 31, 2011.  The funds are managed by a professional fund manager with direction from the Foundation Board as to allocations, types of investments and risk.  Custodian of the funds is Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.

The Board of Directors has demonstrated exceptional faithfulness and professionalism in their discussions, decisions and execution of Foundation business. God is very much at work through the Foundation.  Based on 2011 and the past years, the Foundation holds huge promise for a positive future.
